MetaMask Mobile now integrated with Ledger Nano X

We know this has been a long time coming so thank you for your patience. MetaMask Mobile and Ledger are now integrated. 🎉🎉🎉

As some of the oldest, most trusted wallets in web3, we’re excited to offer a new and convenient solution for our mobile users.

The exciting milestone follows efforts in September ‘23 to educate people on the merits of self-custody and security. We launched our MetaMask Learn Security lesson to help web3 newcomers cement good security practices while Ledger launched their MetaMask Quest and POK NFT for those who aced the quiz.

With this new integration:

• MetaMask Mobile users can now connect both Ledger Nano X and QR-code hardware wallets for added security.
• Ledger users can now connect to both MetaMask Mobile and MetaMask Extension for easier transacting.

Make sure your MetaMask app is updated to the latest version. (v7.17 and above)

1. Click on your account in the drop down section at the top
2. Select “Add account or hardware wallet” and click “Add hardware wallet” to continue
3. Select “Ledger” and unlock your Ledger Nano X. Make sure bluetooth is enabled.
4. Once detected, select your Nano X and continue to pair. Note: Only the first Ledger account from the list will be synced with MetaMask Mobile.
5. Confirm code pair.

Huzzah! Done. When initiating a transaction on Mobile, you will need to confirm by pressing the two buttons on your Ledger to execute.

Helping to keep your assets more secure

Adding a hardware wallet can help mitigate some of the risks associated with custodying your private key as they are stored offline—never exposed to the internet—protecting your assets from remote attacks.

The integration combines the convenience of a software wallet like MetaMask and the added layer of security with a hardware wallet like Ledger.

While the future of wallets could look very different than it does today, we’re excited to close the loop and enable seamless integration for a more secure experience with your MetaMask Mobile account.
