Yes, MetaMask is crypto’s most secure wallet by default. Your self-custodial MetaMask wallet is always powered by our industry-leading security stack. Transaction Shield, including Transaction Protection, is an optional feature if you want to add coverage for your transactions, and receive priority support. 

Transaction Protection covers up to $10,000/month across eligible transactions, for up to 100 transactions per month.

Transaction Shield is MetaMask’s premium subscription, which includes Transaction Protection as well as priority support—to give you unmatched coverage inside your wallet as you navigate web3.

Payment in mUSD at the current market rate is reimbursed directly to the wallet address you provide in the claim form. We may request additional information or KYC documentation to process the payout, as required by the applicable law.

You can manage your Transaction Shield subscription directly in MetaMask Extension.

A subscription to MetaMask Transaction Shield is $9.99 per month, or $99 annually.

You can sign-up for a Transaction Shield subscription using crypto stablecoins on Ethereum mainnet (mUSD, USDC, USDT), as well as your credit card or debit card.

Update MetaMask Extension to the latest version. Navigate to Settings → Click on "Transaction Shield". Choose monthly/yearly plan (no charge during trial).

Transaction Shield is currently only available on MetaMask Extension. Your transaction must take place on MetaMask Extension in order to be eligible for coverage. Mobile support is coming soon.
