Your data, your control

At MetaMask, privacy has always been at the core of what we build. We believe users should have maximum control over what they share and who they share it with, and we've worked hard to be an industry leader in giving you that control. Part of that is keeping you informed: being transparent about what data we collect and how we use it.As web3 evolves and millions more people rely on MetaMask every day, that commitment isn't changing.Building a great product also means understanding how people use it: knowing where users get stuck, which features matter most, and how different types of users interact with MetaMask. These insights are essential to building the product you want, improving security, and making the experience more reliable, more powerful, and more intuitive. This data helps us focus on what actually matters to you.Today, we're sharing an update we're making to our optional analytics system that helps us do that, while keeping you in control. To better serve you, we're updating our analytics (also referred to as MetaMetrics) so publicly available data like wallet addresses and related onchain activity can be associated with actions you take in MetaMask. This helps us improve MetaMask's performance, security, and features in order to make a better, safer wallet. We take privacy seriously. We do not use this information for advertising or sell your data to third parties.MetaMask has always led the way in providing a configurable wallet experience giving you granular choice over your data and how you share it across web3.We have a number of privacy-preserving features available by default in MetaMask, including custom RPC configuration, controls on NFT content display, smart transactions, and toggles for basic functionality like gas estimation and token details. Read more about these features here.
We’re also not changing our opt-in/opt-out approach to analytics. You can disable analytics entirely in Settings → Security & Privacy, request deletion of your data at any time, or adjust related privacy preferences independently. That said, if you do choose to keep analytics enabled, know that you're helping us make MetaMask better for everyone. Product usage data helps us catch bugs faster, prioritize the right features, and build a more secure product. It's one of the most direct ways you can contribute to the wallet you use every day.Our mission remains the same: to build the most secure, reliable, and user-focused wallet in web3. We're grateful to have you with us, and we're committed to earning and keeping your trust—one improvement at a time.Read our full Privacy Notice.
