How to use MetaMask's Sell feature to cash out your crypto to fiat

MetaMask Portfolio’s Sell feature allows you to easily cash out your crypto to fiat currency (USD, EUR, GBP). Combined with the Buy feature, it enables you to have a self-sufficient web3 experience with fewer intermediaries and faster fiat conversion directly to your destination of choice where available, like your bank account or PayPal balance.

Vetted providers

Rather than being limited to a single provider, MetaMask aggregates an array of vetted providers (many of the same ones in the Buy flow)—ensuring they meet our high standards—to present you with different real-time options to convert your ETH on Ethereum Mainnet to the fiat currency of your choice (where available).

A global audience

The Sell feature is currently available in the US (state restrictions apply), UK, and parts of Europe with plans to expand to more regions to cater to our worldwide community. Ensuring a way for users to enter and exit crypto freely is important and we hope these options make web3 attainable to more people. We’re initially supporting ETH on Ethereum Mainnet, with plans to expand to native gas tokens on layer 2 networks soon and fiat currency USD, EUR, and GBP.

How to use the Sell feature in MetaMask Portfolio:

To sell your crypto:

1. Connect your MetaMask wallet to portfolio.metamask.io
2. Click the “Sell” tab to get started
3. Select your region
4. Select the token and network you want to sell from (example: ETH on Ethereum)
5. Select fiat account destination available in your location(e.g.: bank account or PayPal balance)
6. Enter the crypto amount you want to sell (example: 0.5 ETH)
7. All quotes from the different available providers will be presented in real time. Select one to continue.
8. You'll be securely redirected to the provider’s website to sign up and link your fiat account, then directed back to MetaMask Portfolio.
9. Select “Send ETH to [Provider]” to send crypto from your wallet to your fiat account.
10. Confirm the transaction in your MetaMask wallet.
11. You’ll be able to keep track of your order as it is processed in the “Sell” tab. Times vary per provider, and funds may take a few days to reflect in your fiat account.
