You will need your password to unlock MetaMask mobile

We are working hard to continuously improve the security of MetaMask. As a part of this effort, future updates may result in a forced logout and will periodically require you to input your password to unlock your wallet. You will still be able to use biometrics to login after logging in with your password.

Take one of these steps ASAP:

Do you remember your password and Secret Recovery Phrase?

If you have your Secret Recovery Phase backed up and you know your password, no action is required. Just remember you will need to login with your password in future updates.

Do you use biometrics to login and don’t remember your password?

If you do not remember your password and use biometric to login:

1. Login immediately and back up your Secret Recovery Phrase. Do not log out of MetaMask before you’ve backed up your Secret Recovery Phrase. 
2. You cannot reset your password in Settings unless you have your current password.

What happens if you get locked out and do not remember your password but you have your Secret Recovery Phrase backed up?

If you have your Secret Recovery Phrase backed up and you are locked out:

1. From the login screen, select “reset wallet”.
2. Select “import using Secret Recovery Phrase” and create a new password.
3. Backup your password and Secret Recovery Phrase in a secure place.

Note: Secret Recovery Phrase is the ONLY way you can recover your wallet. If you have already backed up your Secret Recovery Phrase, but want to be extra sure (it's good practice), you can backup your Secret Recovery Phrase again by going to Settings > Security & Privacy > Backup again.

Safety reminder: Do not share your your Secret Recovery Phrase with anyone. Your Secret Recovery Phrase is your unique key to your wallet & the assets it holds.  Keep it safe, keep it secret. Employees at MetaMask will NEVER ask you for Secret Recovery Phrase.
